I'm baaaaack

Didja miss me?

I'm really looking forward to reading all your blogs and catching up! It felt good not to worry about blogging, and today I actually wanted to post, so I'll take that as a good sign, no?

Anyway, despite knitting as much as my somewhat limited time allows lately, I only have two finished projects to show you. I had a really bad case of startitis, and have about 6 different things in various stages of doneness right now, but besides these, everything else is either in rather unexciting progress or secret.

Anyway, if you've followed this blog for a while, you may remember that my husband and I taught Sunday school in Chicago. We got really close to all the kids, and it was so hard to leave them. Right before we left, the two oldest girls asked me to knit them toys.

One asked specifically for a teddy bear, and I knew just the one: Teddy in night shirt and cap from Debbie Bliss's Knitted Teddy Bears:

Of course, he's made in Simply Soft. The shirt was a PAIN. So many ends to weave in on such a tiny little thing! Also, I was too lazy to hunt for my size 2 DPNs, so I knit the sucker flat instead of in the round. It was a good experience, as it reminded me EXACTLY why I changed away from that! Never again am I knitting toys flat when I don't have to!

The other girl just asked for "something cute," so I made her the rabbit from Fiona McTague's Knitted Toys:

Somehow he turned out with massive arms, so he looks like a blacksmith. Brute the Blacksmith Bunny is his name.

Both are currently stuffed into a box sailing towards Chicago, since the two little girls are having birthdays! I hope they like their gifts.

They are both adorable! I love the bear's shirt, and the bunny's overalls. What lucky little girls!

Welcome back! Even though the bear's sweater was a pain, it looks great. Both toys are super cute!

Welcome back! I've been checking in once in awhile. The animals are too cute, I'm sure the girls will love them and save them forever.

I took advantage of the tutorial you put me onto in "Knitting" to do the features on my knitted bear - he's pretty cute, and I thank you. I'd send you a photo, but I can't access your email in Blogger. I'm mkb_all@yahoo.com if you want to communicate. Your toys are always adorable.
